    All 50 states are At-Will.
Some are more restrictive on what are allowed on contracts, or even what is called a contract. Some states will hold a employee handbook as a contract for example.

Swift is the type of company to say that if some dingus backs into you despite you being parked, truck as far back in the spot as it'll go, not in an end spot, and 2 long-hood trucks on either side of you sticking put further than you by at LEAST 6 inches, then it's still preventable because you could've parked 200 miles further down the road at the next closest truck stop despite having 30 minutes on your 11 hour clock, a 65 mph truck, and only a single hour of personal conveyance. Forgive me if I don't share the immediate inclination to condemn everything OP says

####, man. Year and a half with but one crash? China will find you some leads to some REAL sweet gigs. Just about every company I looked into when Swift gave me the boot would hire you, and they were more local runs with paychecks in the ballpark of ~$80k/yr. Take a look around. You'll be with a much better company in no time

No. Knight-Swift doesn't use DAC (thank god). Learned that one the fun way when my recruiter at System Transport sent me a copy of mine along with a message saying to call him once I got the rest of my year's experience that they wanted

I was then hit by a driver going 65mph in a 35mph zone while crossing the intersection. The driver was deemed at fault by the police officer and ticketed. The driver ran the red light while hitting my truck. THEY FIRED ME!.
Accident investigation strictly goes by the traffic code. The company may have a code of conduct that is driven by insurance actuaries & your worth as a driver for them.

. How can a company fire you if there is a police report that you were not at fault
Some companies will find an accident at a intersection preventable because they require you to clear an intersection before proceeding , even on a green.
And they don't just look at this accident, they look at your entire conduct with the company. Is this a low or high maintenance driver.

BY THE WAY OI was awarded unemployment as no misconduct could be found on my end.
Unemployment gave you benifits because they considered your accident just that, an "accident "

I had been driving for them for 1 and half years

A safety forum I went to in Wa state said 0-2yrs & over 20yrs experience where the highest risk groups. The first a lack of experience & the 2nd , overconfidence & full of learned bad habits.

At many of these big carriers you become a insurance risk once you have a injury or accident. They unplug you & plug in someone else with a clean slate. 2 things to remember at these companies. 1. You are only as good as your last del load 2. Assume it is non-preventable only when parked in a legal parking space.

Had a situation recently where one of my drivers was cut off and brake-checked at highway speed. Straight section of road, just seemed like the pickup truck driver was being a moron. My driver did his best but still ramrodded the guy.

Dashcam and DOT cameras cleared him of any wrongdoing, but corporate and insurance wanted him fired - they came up with a slew of effed-up scenarios where he "could have done something different", but literally none would have worked outside a Wile E. Coyote cartoon.

The terminal manager, regional manager and I went to bat for him, and his job was saved after two weeks of back and forth.

I work for a large company, I know guys who backed into a pallet of mulch and ripped open a few bags with their ICC bar and got terminated. I also know guys who drove into the back of other trucks on the highway and saved their job. Corporate tends to fire you unless you have a lot of support from your manager. Politics baby!

Not even then, sometimes... my DM fought with tooth and nail to keep me. They finally threatened my DM's job if he didn't drop me... politics indeed. I liked my DM. Good guy. Wouldn't want to see anything come down on his head on my account
