Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

No, it doesn't automatically switch you off anymore on our Qualcomms. At least newer ones don't. I drove in pc for two hours once thinking it would switch like it normally used to. Had to call safety to fix it.

 

After 30 minutes of driving under Personal Conveyance, the Qualcomm will gripe at you:

"You have exceeded your company's limit on personal driving time. Please end your use of this driving condition."

The new 30-minute limit (just like the old 45-minute limit) isn't a regulation. It's just company policy.

Under the old system, Safety could edit the logs and switch you from Driving to Personal Conveyance, so the 45-minute limit was a hard limit.

Under the new system, as I understand things, Safety can no longer edit anything on the Drive line. So the new system won't automatically kick you out of PC.

 

Arrived in Scottsdale for the night and this really is a nightmare and a half, lol! Im thinking Abilene oughta invest in refrigerated box trucks with the sleepers and make it a dedicated thing delivering to places like these....Ill get it in though, just take my time and get out 50 times over if need be. Good thing these 760 volvos have a tight turning radius.

 

But after 30 minutes it rolls from PC to Driving.... at least on my truck... do you just let Safety adjust it?

 

Ya, that’s what mine will tell me... and no count down or indication of how many minutes of the 30 you have consumed... just boom, stop using this... and if you don’t, it switches to Driving.

 

Took me about 4 tries but made it in the dock and out again without destroying anything in Scottsdale, lol! Now I know the sweet spot needed to hit setting up right.

 

You ever had one of those days,when you hope Abilene doesn't put a load on you when your unloaded,that was me lastnight.

Pulled into my delivery at Walmart in Fl last night half eyed.They ended up putting that Pooler medical load on me that im picking up today and taking back to the yard.

 

Learned something new today... I guess I bounced from old to new back to old with the new Truck then was updated... so it does work as mentioned above... I ran the last two hours home on PC and after 30 minutes it did warn me, and repeatedly so, that I was beyond the Company Policy but didn’t trip me back into Driving...

Guess it’s a Good Day when we learn something new...

I would have driven things differently yesterday but now I know going forward.

Not fond of that one Deli Provision in Sanford... had to do a blind side back, at 1:30am after being up since 8am... ugh... but had one of our O/O who unloaded before me give me some pointers... thankfully.
