Simply put: Could you rent a flatbed to retrieve a truck to restore, get ownership make transaction inside of a few days? any tips
Long form:
How do you go about purchasing out of province, a project truck. I have work and would get maybe nine days off to make it happen. Looking at late nineties T/A sleepers. I would be doing my own inspection on sight.
I have found trucks I am looking at working on in the 15-20k$ CAD range. Out west. Do I rent a flatbed drive it out look at a few and then how on earth do you make such a large transaction, how does the ownership transfer. Im asking because of my sheltered life I have no experience in this game. I can drive class A, I have mindset to work on a nearly expired rig. Just not certain how to make it happen and no way of learning but to ask you all here. This is the most relevant existing post I could find. The truck wouldn't be working beyond 20 hours a month, for a specific(niche) material retrieval out of the states to Canada.
Might seem all over the place here -
Why did u pick this truck?
-
I knew the owner, and knew the truck. I knew when it was overhauled, I knew how he maintained it.
I didn't actually pick the truck, I was not looking for a truck, it just came up for sale, so I told him to call it sold. lol -
I think @starmac was a truck dealer in a past life.
Or maybe in a future life, lol. -
Nope, just always wanted to mess with a log truck, and when my friend decided he didn't want to work winters anymore and mentioned selling it. I jumped on it. lol
I knew the truck pretty well and actually helped him work on it a few times when it was a two man job.
I think it was funny, his not working winters didn't last too long and he wound up driving someone elses log truck, which he complained about all the time. lol -
Wasn't there a cabover you were going to buy and you couldn't decide whether to keep the parts off of it or use it?
-
I did buy a cabover for parts along with two other trucks. I just kind of hate cutting up the cabover, because they are getting somewhat scarce, but I will never use it as a cabover and do have a use for the parts, in other trucks.
Everybody wants the engine, which is worth more than I gave for the truck, which leaves me with the rears (lockers) and the 18 spd I wanted.
