At 23 degrees, there is a good chance you will get lucky. I have seen them push the hoses off the fittings and still not hurt the block, but I have also seen it split them down the whole side.
You need to get it in and get it completly thawed out, it takes a while too.
Just a hint, just a little bit of antifreeze will let one gel, but never freeze solid enough to bust anythng. one gallon mixed in will do it, you just can't drive in cold weather like that.
Will frozen water crack a block?

Hey guys just a quick update I got a couple of pics of what I believe is the freeze plugs (7 of them) and none have popped out. Is this a good sign or may it mean the water expanded to other parts of the block?
Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
I really do think your fine. Anything leaking? Anything on the ground? If not then your good to go.

It will sometimes push a freeze plug out, but can crack without it too.
We have always called them freeze plugs, but that is not what they are there for. lolRideandrepair and isaitrujillo8 Thank this. -

The freeze plugs are meant to avoid a cracked block. For that reason, I’d rather see them popped out. Hopefully it’s fine, I’m a little low on A/F myself right now. Had a clamp break, added water. Cold weather caught us all off guard, this year. Soon as I get home, new hoses and A/F. Lol
