Driving home today a hissing sound started when accelerating, seems to be only there when it’s in boost. I can hear it inside the cab, sounds like it under the drivers side down around the pedals but inside the engine bay. I have looked and can’t see any visible leaks or anything.
Truck has the Cummins 5.9 engine.
Any help would be appreciated.

Can you have someone try to put a load on the engine to build boost while you look/feel for boost leaks on all the charge air piping and intake manifold area? Sounds like a blown intercooler boot to me.

I have tried loading the engine up myself, but I can’t seem to make it make the noise,Unless it’s driving. What’s the best way to check for leaks?
Thanks -
There is a kit that allows you to unhook the charge air cooler piping from the intake manifold and turbocharger, plug both ends of the piping and apply shop air to it (regulated to 25psi), then listen/feel for leaks.
