Ok, here is the deal. I own a T680 that I am either selling or trading in (I hate it) on a W9 or 379. I have it narrowed down to 4 trucks, all with paperwork. 2 379s and 2 W9s. The W9s are 2007s, one with a Cat and one with a Cummins and the 379s are 2003s, one with a Cat and one with a Cummins. Im a Cat and Peterbilt guy. I have never driven a W9 and only older Cummins except for a 2014 Cummins. My question is for those who have driven both the 379 and W9. Whats the plus and minus of both. Dont want an argument of which is better, just real facts on the differences.
W900 vs 379 (Not a pis-sing match)

Bean Jr. and OLDSKOOLERnWV Thank this. -
2003 with 2002 built engines? That alone makes those trucks preferable
Dino soar, Bean Jr., Muddydog79 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I get whichever one was spec'd out properly for my intended use.
All things being equal, I'd get one of the '03 trucks. Should have '02 engines in them. Pre bridge, or acert Cat & pre egr Cummins should give better mpg & reliability down the road..ChevyCam, Dino soar, FlaSwampRat and 4 others Thank this. -
2003 could have a bridge motor in it.

As much as I despise the Pete's, I'd have to go with one of them, based on the emissions.
The Kenworths being 2007's are going to have emissions crap.
If memory serves me, 2003 and up to about 2010, there were no good engine options. I guess people have figured out how to make them work, but that's another story...Dino soar Thanks this. -
I know about the emissions and motors, but I'm trying to ask about driving the two and being in the two for weeks at a time. What's the differences

KW’s generally seal up better and are a little quieter with less wind noise. The Pete’s you’re looking at will have door mounted mirrors and they will likely vibrate going down the road.
Pete’s are notorious for having water leak and run down the cab pillar on the driver’s side right into the fuse box. But I’ve also had to completely rewire a W9 I had because of the same issue.12 ga, Hammer166, FoolsErrand and 2 others Thank this. -
I've driven several W900's Where the windshield would pop out every time you slammed the door with the windows rolled up due to the air pressure inside the cab and the curved glass windshield. The W900's with the flat glass don't have that issue. -
W900 doesnt feel as boxed in as a 379 jmo
