Just one other tip that you might consider.. I know it's a ####ty platform and the bidding crap sucks. But there is a lot of work on Uship. It's mostly direct customer contact so the under 90/under 6 months isn't as big of a deal.
Again I don't like the site and rates are usually low, but you can run from that while aging your numbers to get yourself work. I personally haven't taken any loads from there because I've been able to get loads from brokers, but I did do a lot of watching loads there prior to my numbers going active.
It does have work.. it's just the bid process is a bit annoying..
1st week almost over on my own numbers as a hotshot

I haven’t made a year with my CDL yet.
But I did get to talking rate confirmation twice, but once they’re like okay give me you MC, I hear the voice change, and sorry sir but we can’t use you. It gets tougher every time.crocky Thanks this. -
Yeah you just have to stay with it and sometimes you catch a broker in "need".. watch the load boards and pay attention to the listed loads. The "good" loads you likely won't have chance at for now, but those loads no one touches or the loads that are almost out of the pick up window.. Those are the loads to target because the broker needs to fill them.
Just sort out how you can cut your expenses to the bare minimum so you can make money on crappy loads and just deal with that until the MC ages a bit. It doesn't take long.. I mean mine is now nearly 2 months old and seems like I just got it..DouletTheDriver Thanks this. -
True. I was using the basic DAT. Probably needed pro version.
I’m trying out one more dispatch on Monday that’s not a 1-man operation; just until I got my 90 day mark, possibly 6-month if they do pretty well.
Feeing optimistic. -
Get CH Robinson, Coyote, Landstar, Among others have load boards that loads will get posted before put on public boards ( DAT TRUCKSTOP.com) you can also get set up with those companies as soon as you can. Also when you separate from your Dispatch Service be sure to have your contact info changed to your company. You ca also get set up with Blue Grace has a lot of freight for the airline’s both military and civilian a lot of them close to you Texas and coming out of Oklahoma. You find someone to keep you loaded while you learn how the industry works. Here is the thing the brokers need dependable, trustworthy carriers to work with while you need the same from them.DouletTheDriver Thanks this.

I'm just using the $60 version as well or what ever the cheap version is.. under Truck type when searching loads use F,K,D for truck type, that gets you all the various flat bed loads. I then search 1st just partials then I do both. When looking at the loads the "FH" under equipment is the code for hot shot. I always look over those 1st just because you already know they wont give you a hassle over not being a big rig.

I was doing that strategy with the load search as well. I have the $35 version.
Gonna check out Blue Grace. I’ve signed up with most of these companies.
I’m confident in the future, just got really set back wasting 2.5 weeks with this last dispatch.
And all advice is very much appreciated! -
Yeah seemed very crazy they couldn't find a load in that amount of time..for the record maybe my Dat is $35 I honestly can't remember I think I took whatever the cheapest version was and for some reason off the top of my head I was thinking it was $60.DouletTheDriver Thanks this.
