We must have been typing at the same time, clearly a 318. Detroits were very popular in the 70's. I drove a IH 4300 milk truck with a 318 once, had to go about 90 miles, boss said, "that uses a little oil, take some with". I checked the stick, it showed nothing, added 2 gallons and took 2 gallons with. When I got to the loading place, 90 miles, mind you, there was nothing on the stick again, adding the 2 gallons brought it up to a gallon low mark. I kept an eye on the oil pressure gauge all the way home. I thought I may have to stop to get more oil. If geared properly and keep "the needle against the pin", some guys had "runnin" 318's, but they didn't last long.

It's the 2 vent holes that are throwing me. I have seen a 1970 with those. Pretty sure it's pre-'74 before it just became Freightliner. I think Time/DC ran these. HA! Rubber band drive. A bit before my time, but I've seen them at shows. Tell that too a youngun', and see what response you get.
