I would load it with weed in CO and run to NE.
In BOL write Colorado high quality hay.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

You shouldn't have any problems hauling the trailer with the bill of sale.

I've done it twice, cross country. One was a just purchased used POS tanker. The other was 3 brand new flatbeds.

I could see one, it wasn't pulling a load. The other was pulling a load sort of. 2 stacked on to 1. Nobody stopped me for paperwork check. The tanker went all the way across 80.

Honestly if you’re only going from CO to NE I would just wait for dark and drive it home.

Make sure you have insurance, annual inspection, bill of sale or title copy at least. I took my trailer from FL all the way to UT without problem.

I'd worry more about the truck than trailer but for only a state or two I might just roll it at night as FLD said.
