We'll be rolling out some new features on the main site over the next few weeks. In particular, there will be a new database for trucking companies and schools. Primarily, it will be a place where we can compile all the reviews for each company, but we also want to provide the basic information about the companies that drivers using the database will want to know. We'll be contacting the companies and schools to get this information 'straight from the horse's mouth,' and the information will be updated every year.

Sounds like a good idea. I know you can get most of the policies and such online from the different company sites but to have it all here would be very informative and beneficial especially for smaller less known companies and ones that don't have the info on their site. Some that come to mind would be detention pay, breakdown pay, layover pay, cpm/% pay, hometime policy, pet policy, req. exp., equipment (make, manual/auto, apu, inverters, trailers, sleeper size, etc.), rider policy, insurance policy/rates, avg. weekly mi./driver over previous year, 401k, tuition reimbursement, contact info, qualcomm poilicy, fleet size, primary running areas, hiring areas, pay policy (comdata, direct deposit, etc.), use of DAC, terminal locations, training availability, safestat ratings, financial standings, and any other facts about the company.
Admin Thanks this. -
Try to obtain detailed information from the trucking companies about the areas they are currently hiring. i.e. the U.P. of MI.

I would think a project like this would need to be community-edited, but that's probably too ambitious - going through and updating only yearly is going to result in a lot of stale information, since a lot of it (pay, hiring status, etc.) probably changes almost weekly.
How many staff are going to work on this? Cataloging every trucking school in the nation (let alone the trucking companies) is quite a feat. -
The goal is to add 10-20 entries into the database every business day, which will allow us to catalog the 200 largest freight lines and a fairly wide swathe of trucking schools. Staff will be allocated as needed to achieve this goal.
You're right, pay and hiring status is highly variable by date and position, it's not something that we'll be cataloging. If the database passes the necessary popularity threshold, we'll change the system to allow more dynamic information updates.
What information do you want from schools? -
Acredidation, cost, length, days nights weekends, instructor student ratio, need permit before starting or not, equipment
-
I would say the way some schools are taking students knowing they are not hireable would be do you have job placement or what about refresher courses for those that have not been hired in the window most co's want?
