Gee, thanks, guberment! -

The rates are low it cost a certain amount to move the freight and that's why trucking needs a benchmark.

Jb got drivers going from 3.00, 2.00,1.00, .99 cpm. They hope everyone go low so they keep most.

Everyone saying govt bad, no more govt etc...
Fails to realize, the other side of the isle ATA, Brokers assoc, mega trucking companies. ALL use the govt to keep us in red tape, regulations, sniping each other.
It's like the 1st Sargent used to say. The system is the system! Learn how it works and use it for you or dont and it will be used against you.stuckinthemud, 86scotty and brank Thank this. -
If the government set a rate that was high enough to survive on, then all the gazillion trucks out there would stay in business and before we knew it, that would be the only rate there is. Nothing would pay more, nothing would pay less. I would exit trucking immediately and leave it to the guys who just want to earn a paycheck. I like to try and hustle hard to beat the market and do better then my peers. It’s called getting ahead. If that’s not possible anymore then I’m outta here.
Opendeckin, 86scotty, PPDCT and 6 others Thank this. -
Idk why people think it's that bad really. Maybe their operating cost are too high? My bottom line to operate is 1.31 a mile and that breaks me even. Pays my Bills at home and my truck bills. And I have no problem fi.ding loads for $2 per mile. Ya there used to be a ton of $3-4 per mile. But theres up times and down times in every market not just trucking. When times are up invest to lower your operating cost. When times are down. Find where the money is and run with it. For me it was flatbed. I couldnt do van just because there was 5 billion people doing it So less demand equals less pay. So when I hear people saying the market sucks. I hear they're not being smart business wise. Times change, and you need to adapt or you sink This will never change
mover man Thanks this. -
It's a shame somebody can't do something about detention. I guess you win that one battle at a time. Or lose.
But if you're not getting paid I'm reminded of the words of the great philosopher Tom Petty...
