Just tried Booneville and had no problem. It found it either way (by typing "booneville, ms" or zip code "38829.") In Jackson, it does not find the intersection of 20 and 220 by using the "Crosstreet" button. I had to enter it as "POI / Truck Services / Exit / Jackson, MS" or just click on it on the map of Jackson to get there.
We shall see. I'll get a look at it soon and report on the changes
Have you ran the touch screen calibration yet? I found that it helps a lot when it doesn't click where you are putting the stylus or your finger to correct that issue. (On a side note, the Garmin 465T doesn't even include a stylus and I found that the button sizes and design are so easy to click that it doesn't even need one.)
This one has to do with the fact that it runs on Windows and Windows doesn't like to run for more than one or two days without a reboot. A lot of users are clicking the power button on top just momentarily until the screen says "Sleeping" rather than holding down the power button until it says "Power Off" instead. I found that by doing a power off once every day or two eliminates any out-of memory errors entirely.
Please bear in mind that I am not disagreeing with you - merely commenting on items where I can possibly help those use the PCM430 more effectively in case I say something they hadn't known about yet.
Regards.

I have used every setting possible (including Truck / Car / Motorcycle / and Walking) on this unit. On the current version of the system (that doesn't have the early hardware issues with the internal memory and the DC power chargers) I have to respectfully disagree with the "not even near good" opinion. It surely can be improved and I speak with ALK at least once per week about these things to try to help from the driver's perspective (yours, mine, and the hundreds I talk to on the phone and in the forums every week.) With it only being 6 months old and the first software update nearing completion now, they moved fairly fast on the improvements in terms of big software companies.
As an insight on our testing, in the last two weeks I have been driving around with 3 GPS's strapped to the dash side-by-side. The other drivers look at me like I am going to launch missiles or have some kind of GPS OCD syndrome or something. I got back Friday from North Dakota (testing in the little rural environments) and before that was in Colorado Springs testing there. Now I am back in Oregon testing on the I-5 corridor. Additionally I have sent a 465T to one of our drivers who does deliveries in Manhattan and the 5 boroughs because there hasn't been a GPS yet that could accurately drive a big truck around NYC (including the PCM430.)
And the 465T is out already. I have had them in stock for a week.
I'll do my best to give you accurate results and updates as they occur, man.

If I knew you had it on stock I would of order it from you as I like to support vendors thatr support the forum
but I didnt know.
Delvi.Dieselboss Thanks this. -
Don
When do you think you will post your reviews on all three?
Thanks

That should help man. Rather than keep piling on this Goodyear thread it was more appropriate to start a comparison thread of its own.RAG and Novice Driver Thank this. -
Hi! Any updates on the 500X from those using it now? Good, Bad, otherwise? Looking at buying one in the next few weeks.
-
Bought a GY500X today. Shows a good signal. Input all information. Shows to be calculating the route. The bar that indicates that it is working goes about 2/3rds of the way over then stops. It says "Start not a valid location". I looked in Points of Interest to see if it is locating me and it seems to be since it locates gas stations close by. Tried to plot a route to the nearest airport but nothing. There is no SIM card in the unit, should there be one?
-
Wow, that's really bad.
-
No, there is no sim card. The program is loaded on the internal memory.
I had it do that "Start not a valid location" to me as well. I had to restart it and wait for it to get a solid GPS signal and then it worked. I am in contact with the developers almost daily with my testing and they appear to be responding quickly so let me know how that goes. -
After TRYING to use this POS for a few days I just turned it off and put it back in the box... either I'm an idiot who can't operate it, or it is a piece of junk.
I'll take a hundred bucks for it... any takers???
