Wow. Thank you guys for all your responses!!

I got my CDL A in early 2014, so roughly 5.5 years ago. I think all the endorsements, and license itself, expired. I remember contacting Smith and Solomon - where I got my CDL A initially a few years back and they told me Id have to pay for a refresher course. I always felt they were just about making a buck tho.

I did not know there were so many opportunities for loads out there! Sounds even more local than I initiallly posted too! Just how much money can be made after operating expenses thats realistic, how do I get these contracts, and am I looking at 8-10 hours a day of work or 14-16???

Thank you all again, im alittle excited right now thinking of the possibility! I always dreamed of working alone and for myself - and there may be some srs hope in this!!

i think that in the beginning, being a new business owner, you will work till you have no skin on your bones. you are trying to build up your business and reputation.

after x amount of time, to be determined by your bank account and customer base, you "might" be able to cut back a bit, or put on another driver and keep going "balls to the walls".

it's (to me) the slackers that are always complaining about money issues, but the hard workers, the go-getters, NEVER complain about the money..or the new trucks they had to buy to meet the demands.

go to places IN person and speak with the owners, or shipping depts managers. you can try advertisements in the local news papers, but that is costly.

you can even try other companies that do these services, to see if they want to put on another owner/op on board.

    best of luck to you.
