You have basically two classes here. first is dual- sport or dual-purpose (used to called enduro) or super Moto.

supermoto is actually a dual sport with some modifications for full street use. Usually street wheels and tires, a bit different brakes.

I still have it and it still runs, motor has never been apart. The top end is pretty noisey (to be expected), it's the loaner bike when friends wanna hit the trails and don't have a dirt bike. They are really cool but they are really outdated now. When I bought it new in 02 it was THE dualsport to have but they literally have upgraded not 1 single thing since then so everyone else makes a more modern faster bike in that category, still fun as hell you just can't expect to hang with someone on a crf450l or a ktm.

Yeah they are super outdated but it’s good at what it does. Outdated is good sometimes, compare parts and price to a ktm...

Slow is also fun, you can womp on it without being scared.

They also do the best wheelies. I can power up in second and hold it to highway speed. I have a ktm now and you are 100% correct on parts prices. One stupid lil thing I like about the ktm is it still has a kick starter so if the battery goes down I can still start it without pushing it down the driveway and jumping on it then having it skid to a stop in the stones. Done that one too many times lol. You would think I would buy a battery tender or something.

Had a 2 1984 Yamaha FJ’s one was a 1100, the other was a 600. The 600 was for racing, the 1100 for just riding.

Going to Laguna seca with a bunch. Riding the 1100, just bebopping along, noticed I was all alone. Looked down at speedo, yea, need to slow down here, 135mph in a 55 was not a good idea. Definitely not heading down to the GP.

nope never be prepared. That’s my motto. Lol

I kind of want to buy a bike but I saw 3 guys on bikes get smoked in one day this summer so idk. People are horrible drivers here and just run over trees for fun.
