Took my road test today with a heavy equipment hauling and excavation company. Passed with flying colors. Got to drive a sweet 8 speed KW. Shifted like a dream. Now I just have to discuss pay and other bennies with the owner and make my decision. Also found out they deliver to a larger area then I'm accustomed to, so that will be fun to see different places.

    Congrats.

8 speed is my favorite transmission

10-4 on that. This outfit delivers up to NY. Not sure if in the city exactly, but definitely LI and places like Binghamton. Route planning will be a definite necessity. I do not want to be flubbing around with a gps while my wheels are rolling and not knowing which turn to take or be going down the road and all the sudden I find out my trailer can't make it through.

Thanks, brother. Looking forward to seeing what the pay offer is. Reckon I'll find out monday. I'm assuming at least mid-20s to start. Compared to some of the equipment I've driven so far, that KW I was in yesterday was a dream.

I’d just take it as long as the pay isn’t total trash. You’ll get your foot in the door and they’ll start paying you more or someone else will.

They told me I'll be starting off with the easier landoll and probably haul the 'smaller' stuff. Then gradually I'll move onto the low decks and the big excavators and dozers.

Sounds good to me, pretty much the same stuff you’ve been doing then you can move on to the big stuff.

They contract out with all kinds of outfits, too. So I could be hauling generators from CAT or aerial lifts from sunbelt, etc. Thats all in addition to moving their own equipment around.

Nice, sounds like they’ll be busy.
