The shifter in my newly purchased truckhas more play in it than I would like. It is an Eaton RTL016913A; is this adjustable or does it need bushings or other parts?

04 T600. the shift is really wide and loose. some of it might just be me, I drove only newer straight 10's before this.

Mine, which of course, is much older than yours had a lot of play. Knuckles hit the dash lol. We took the plate off and saw that there was no way to adjust it, the bushings were shot, so replaced the bushings and stick.

There two types of towers, tall and short. They are long and short throws. The short tower will have more travel because of the shorter distance between the shift finger and pivot bushing. This transmission may just have the short tower, and therefore the long throw. The bushings at the top of the tower are usually good for the life of the truck, only ever replaced one or two for being worn.

Thanks for the info. Guess will pull the boot and check it out. Hitting the gears isn't a problem, I just dislike the loosey goosey feel. Might be normal for a 13.

Sounds like you need new shift tower isolator, not sure about your truck but on a pete you gotta cut it off and weld on the new one.

i don't think your isolaters will be bad.. inside the shift tower is a o-ring. most of the time that o-ring gets hard and falls apart. it is a fuller part number k-3376. its less then $10. its not real hard to replace. take shift tower off trans, seperate upper stick from lower, remove big spring from inside shift tower and then it all just kinda falls apart from thier.

You can find service manuals from roadrangers website. Go to the literature section and you can select your trans from the list and you will find it.

I have it for mine in .pdf form.
