I watched a Swift driver, about 400lbs, open his door to back into a spot between two trucks at the Dallas TX T/A fall out of his truck. Bad part was his truck was still in gear and ran into this young kids new Pete he just bought 2 months before. When the truck hit, it just keep driveing into the Pete because it was still in gear. Fat boy Swift took about 5 mins to get back to his truck, by then the young kid had the Swifty truck shut off. I felt bad for Swifty, that could happen to alot of guys when leanin out the door to back, just Swifty bad luck for him i guess. The young kid who had the Pete just spent the last 3 hours polishing his truck all up too.

this thread is why I hate other truckers! I drive for swift and have always been profesional. I see a lot of wrecks but never seem to be swift drivers, (accept the ocasional backing problem at truck stops with new drivers) the fact is the worst accidents out there are caused by over confident drivers who make fun of swifters all day. I am not defending Swift by no means don't get me wrong, but I am just tired of the constant ripping. I will start taking video of true comedy. FFE, Werner, USA truck, any flat bed company, etc

Sounds like a very bad trainer... That is called something like "ROAD RAGE" & someone who is suppose to be training shouldn't be experiencing that with the young influential trainee...

Honestly, he had road rage problems, but I could have gotten a lot worse. ..Most CRST trainers are idiots. I just wish he would have given me more city driving time. I also got to learn a lot about being an owner operator, and learned to drive a super 10, so ...meh.

I agree with you, i never judge a driver by the logo on the side of his truck. There are great drivers for all the big carriers but it gets over looked because of the size of these companys. Like i said in my above statement, this could of happen to any driver who has to lean out the door to back in, i felt bad for him and never made fun of him, i was the only one there that went to him and asked if he was ok, accident aside, he did fall out of a truck and he was a big guy, it had to of hurt and he could of been hurt bad. But noone was hurt, you have to admit, if you would of seen this you would have to tell this story.

Worst thing that happen to me was a 'Cool' owner operator with the text book Pete 379 and spread axle trailer with more lights then an airport, draged his pretty trailer right accross my bumper at a truckstop a few years back. Destroyed my texas bumper and cracked my fender. I was backed in a parking spot and was asleep, when i woke up, he came to my window and tryed to blame me, said i should of backed up more, if i would have backed up anymore i would of hit the cement poll behind me, i was in perfect line with all the other trucks and a half foot from the cement poll in a marked spot. I guess if you have 'cool truck' even accident you cause are not your fault, in his eyes, guess he did not want to admit he hit a Werner truck that was parked, just to cool for that i guess.

According to safersys.org UPS has 100,000 trucks and 95,000 drivers to Swift's 19,000 trucks and 21,000 drivers so UPS is a LOT bigger. Only comparing TL carriers, Swift is probably the largest.

I can't stand it when people have no respect for other drivers like that. Because you know a driver came in there lastnight, exhausted, and because of guys like this had to keep driveing to find somewhere to rest. Just flat out rude. Lucky for him, his truck did not say Werner,Swift, J.B. hunt on it, someone would have beat on his door and gave him hell. But he has a cool logo on his truck, so this accepted.

Why pull the fuses? If you were driving a volvo there is a switch on the dash that interrupts the traction control.

Swift doesnt have a switch for the traction control on their trucks. They have the cheapest setups on the volvos just the basics.
