Can the broker legally acquire an alcohol permit for the carrier?

So I bumped into this load where the broker said they will acquire the alcohol permit to be able to deliver the load into a state that requires it. I’ve never heard of this. How legal is this? This is coming from a large brokerage company.

As long you have a alcohol permit in a given state for that load of alcohol its very legal.

I used to haul a fair amount and they always put a permit into my hand. I didnt care in those days where that little card came from as long I have it for that load going to say Seagrams.

Woe onto you if you are caught without a blessed permit. Particularly in a state or jurisdiction that demands one. You might be treated as a rumrunner trying to get clear of the revenuers.
