And if it isn't I would find a place I wouldnt mind staying at for a couple day until you figure stuff out.
Better to run outta fuel at a truck stop then at a receiver

That was just a hypothetical question and in no way involves me.
Fuel card and insurance makes perfect sense.
I drive a dump truck and at this point in my life I’m not cutout for OTR.
Just every time I hear about a company shutting down. I just always wondered what happens to the drivers and the loads in transit.
Thanks for all the insights to my question. -
FlaSwampRat, Roberts450, bzinger and 2 others Thank this.

First don't worry about getting reported for an abandoned vehicle. Any company to report to (Hirerite) costs money to use.
Second, if I'm close I'll likely deliver mostly to drop the trailer and bobtail as close to home as I can get.
But there really is no good answer...UnkownHorse and Coffey Thank this. -
Must be hell.
But in regards x1heavy you are wrong.
Even the mods have noticed his posts lately.
@ZVar is right to call him out.4mer trucker, bzinger and mitrucker Thank this. -
See i would worry about not getting paid so my top priority would finding a way to get home now I might try to call the receive to see if I could get some cash for delivering to them under those conditions if not good luck finding someone to get it to them
ZVar Thanks this. -
I cannot understand how in this day and age drivers can actually be left stranded by a company. To not even have money for a bus ticket is truly mind boggling.drvrtech77, Bakerman, ZVar and 1 other person Thank this. -
That’s the way I would handle it..finish the job.
My only concern would be is if the company’s insurance was still active..
I’ll guess and say that for the drivers who just park the trucks and walk away..The company could put an abandonment on the drivers record..
Just do the right thing if it ever happens to you..you’ll sleep better.UnkownHorse Thanks this. -
I had an old guy that was a friend growing up.
He had the nickname "Trucker."
He was one of the last "sat on a phone book, and had blocks on the pedals" drivers.
I just enjoyed his tales of fifty years of over the road adventures.
He never read or wrote too well, and finally couldn't pass the tests.
I never question the truthfulness; it was all in the telling.
Each time it was bigger, faster, longer, whatever.
He would give you the shirt off his back.
I see character, rather than content.
Maybe X1Heavy reminds me of my old friend.
Sorry all; not a good time for me.kemosabi49, daf105paccar, mitrucker and 2 others Thank this. -
I have for some time now viewed heavys posts as entertainment not to be taken seriously.
Some are dam funny and as long as he isnt offensive I'm fine with it .
Ttr may be his only life.
Ps ..I've had a couple posts influenced by alcohol myself lol.Dale thompson, daf105paccar, Bakerman and 1 other person Thank this.
