Yeah, youre right. America is pretty much kaput anyways. Why try to hold onto middle class jobs, right? $23T defecit, corruption, and all the illegals and street drugs we can handle! THINGS R GREAT! No sense in crying about it! Lol

What happens to the self driving truck when it runs through a swarm of love bugs and the cameras can not see?

Mega companies aren't debt free. They are just large enough to spread their profits over a large amount of trucks. And some of the rates they charge would surprise you, they don't stay in business employing thousands of people running cheap.

LoneRanger, INRUT and buddyd157 Thank this.

Celadon at time of bankruptcy was worth more in assets then liabilities, yet they still closed shop.

Had a risk presented on Tuesday......70 autonomous power units in the Permian Basin, getting set up by a Asian sub continent company to haul frac sand. To start they will have "driver" in the seat AND a pilot car in front and chase in the rear. Over period of time they will first eliminate the pilot & chase units, then presumably after proof of concept they will remove the monkey. So seems like a long term, big capital investment trying to prove it can work.

As an underwriter my first thought was how this will work "off road", and especially after a rain storm, or ice/snow storm on un-improved roads.

they can also cut down on costs, by purchasing trucks with bare bones interiors and exteriors or the chrome, stainless steel and all that glitters. they can stop buying fridges, power windows, high dollar seats.

they can delete AM/FM radios and satellite radios..they can delete APU's.

they can go back to all spring suspensions.

they can buy cheaper (recapped ) tires instead of new high dollar michelins....

oh there are ways to cut expenses........

The insurance industry controls everything. Just refuse to write them a policy.

    ^^^^^^

Ha Ha.....stockholders expect us to use our capital and write premiums.

Trust me, IF we put a quote out it will be for a premium easily double what a typical frac sand hauler would be paying.......minimum of $ 20,000 just for liability.

I fail to see your point?

If there is something I can ADD to my life to make it better, why would I not use it?

The same argument could be said about cell phones, you were making the same call on the landline, why did we need to have that #### invention of the mobile phone?!?
