Hey guys, how likely is it that I will be trained and hired if they gave me the go-ahead to head down to Riverside? Do they do their background checks and application approvals before they invite you or when you are actually there at the school? I'm just trying to plan out my future, I need to know by the end of August what I'm going to be doing and I wouldn't start at any school or company until mid-October, I have a perfect record (no crimes, no accidents, no tickets, one job in 4 years) can I plan on Central Refrigerated or do they hire 50 students and find a way to get rid of those they don't need?

The background check will still be going on when you arrive!

The ones that don't make it usually have failed there background check, Medical, lied on the App or the pee test.

If you pass all that you are pretty much good to go.

Hey guys! I'm thinking about starting with Central in October. I've been e-mailing and calling the recruiters and getting as much information from them as I can to know the difference between what they've told me, and what I'm learning online. I've seen on here how satisfied people have been with the schools, and some others aren't so satisfied... But to those that were happy with it, what are your general thoughts and what are some tips that I should take to heart? I'm a fast learner and when something interests me as much as trucking, I love learning about it. I live in KC, Kansas and was told I'd be sent to the SLC, UT location. What do you guys have to say about this location? About how long does the applicatoin process take from the time you send the app, to the time they send you to the school (I need to give 2 weeks notice at my current job)? What is there to say about working for them? Such as, will they fire you for any reason at all/charge you for anything? And what is the likelyhood of having a company truck available around October/November/December of this year as soon as I upgrade to solo? What are their policies regarding Qualcomm (if they have any)? I know that the company trucks do not have APU's on them, but is it acceptable, say if I had the money, to purchase my own APU and put it on the truck, to be taken off when/if I leave the company? Or is that even possible? Understand, I'm trying to learn about all of this as much as I can before I step into it, lol. Thanks so much for any help!!

If you both happened to get hired by Central. You can both train together. There are trainers that solely train teams. And as soon as both of you were finished with your training you can team together. Your team driver is your choice.

The School is very fast paced!

Some weeks there is a shortage of trucks for new drivers, just depends on how many drivers have quit that week!

They will charge you if your idle is over 30%, after your training and upgrade you will get load locks and a king pin lock which are taken out of your pay.

Thermo king UPU = ABOUT $10K installed and I'm pretty sure they won't let you.

The slow time pulling a reefer is January to late April.

A company is different for everyone, What is important for me may not be as important to you.

Thanks for your reply! Ok, how much do they charge for over idle, and how do you figure the percentage of how much you idle? Also, what are the fees for the locks, and do they charge you everytime you need them? Thanks you!

I'm not sure how much they charge for the over idle, We Lease so we don't get charged.

    2 load locks $40.00
lock kit $100.00 (Padlock and King pin lock) If you have to drop a load and there isn't Load locks in the trailer you pick up you just let your FM and know and get a comcheck to replace your Load locks.
