Got my load delivered early Monday and was off by noon. Dispatch gave me a choice of running a Scope load from Iowa City instead of Plaquemine. Since it was a couple hundred miles longer I jumped on it. This one is also drop and hook. We pull and empty clean and sealed trailer 900+ miles to Iowa City. Drop it and grab one loaded with Scope mouthwash and go back. It delivers at 8:00 AM Friday so its 1800+ miles in basically 3.25 days.

Uneventful run. Made my delivery on time and was off by 10:30 AM Friday. Heading back out Monday with half a day of local work followed by a load from Greensboro NC that delivers Wednesday in San Antonio. 1300 miles to launch me into the system. Should be a good week. Little less home time though. -
Howdy Rob, I've been reading through your thread slowly. I see that you've visited the Karns City Superior location before, I only live maybe 10 minutes from there, I previously worked for a contractor rebuilding pumps for those chemical plants (and many other plants) that you drive past.

Thats a beautiful part of the country down along the river there. Karns City is actually one of the larger terminals measured by number of drivers. Hell of a place to drive a truck in the winter though. -

Good week. Started around 8:45 AM and made my local work delivery over at Ashland. It took a while since they were drumming product into totes. Timing was good though since my outbound load was sitting in the rack next to it. It finished loading about 30 minutes before I finished unloading and was waiting for me after I dropped my MT at the tank wash, got the fittings washed out and bobtailed back to the plant.
I was on the road by 13:30 with 4.5 hours of local pay in the bank. Ran to the Loves at exit 28 I85 south and shut down. Tuesday I made it to the Loves at exit 7 on I10 in La right on the Texas border. That got me close enough to make my delivery in San Antonio and get to the Pasadena terminal Wednesday.
Sure enough they sent me to Pasadena Wed after delivery. Dispatch told me it would be Friday before they could load me out of there. I got there around 8:30 PM expecting to trash around the place collecting layover pay for a couple of days.
Checked with dispatch Thursday morning and was told they were sending me to Axis Al with an empty. That was cool with me. Its 475 miles and a little closer to home. Checked with dispatch in Axis and they are loading me out of Pensacola Fl Friday delivering Saturday in Greenwood SC. I am then taking the empty to Augusta Ga, dropping it at the tank wash and grabbing a preloaded trailer that delivers in Big Island Va on Tuesday. I am to run it to our terminal for some home time (and to save the company some layover pay) That load had a window in the qualcom of :00:01-23:59 so its a good local load for a local guy. They may have me drop it for one of them since I should be able to get it there Sun AM at the latest.
I am sitting about 40 miles away from my loading point in Loxley Ala right at the Fla line. I will pick up 3 hours of layover pay since it doesn't load until 3:30 PM. I maxamized that and saved the company a little money by calling Axis dispatch and bypassing a trip by their terminal to pick up a travel order. Saved me an hour to hour and a half and around 60 miles. I keep some blank travel orders in the truck and all the info is in the qualcom. They had me dropping my clean trailer then hooking back up to it so I am loading the same trailer I pulled out of Pasadena. I don't believe its coincidence that I was sent out after sitting 14.5 hours right before the layover clock starts. The loading time was probably set up around starting from Axis.
All in all a good week and it looks like I will get some semblance of a weekend getting in Sunday and going back out Tuesday if they leave me on this load.Big Duker Thanks this. -
Yeah, we have some good winters up here in PA. I would've never guessed that Karns City is one of the larger terminals, I've canooed down that river before, its a good time.

Everything went well as scheduled. I enjoyed driving some state roads through Alabama, Florida, SC and Georgia that this load required.
I got home around 1:00 AM Sunday morning. They had me drop the last load I grabbed in Augusta on our yard for a local driver to cover. I am heading back out Tuesday late morning on another dedicated dry bulk run out and back to N Chicago. -

This week will not be a good one in the paycheck department but a great one in home time. All I got was one load and around 1500 miles. I left Tuesday morning and got back Thursday night. Even had a 2 hour tire repair delay when I woke up to a flat trailer tire Thursday morning.
Just got a call from dispatch and I have a Holland Mi load for next week that delivers Tuesday morning so I will be heading out Monday after a 3 day weekend. Time to make a beer run. I have been inspired by our president. -
There you go WSYROB take advantage of it and enjoy it. I am going to orientation with CTL next week in ST Gabriel LA. And then two weeks of tank training in Morrow Ga.
I would have wish things would have worked out with me at Superior But not so o well.
I just hope i have found a good place. -
Good luck to you. I think you will like pulling tanks. What is the closest CTL terminal to us?
