I can tell you're trying to be helpful, but at the end of the day it's really not something I am comfortable trying on my own. I don't own the tools necessary or know all the ways to use it if i did. If I had a mentor on the spot for all these things I would learn as I go, but I think once you start off as a shop frequenter you tend to stay that way.
I don't really mind that arrangement, but I need a sense of fairness in the game. Autozone, walmart, forget examples.. EVERYONE else takes parts back. Heck when I had a computer business people would take a part and fry it then return it. Its sucks, but it's all part of it if you want to keep a customer base.
Anyway it's not over. We'll see who was quicker come monday.

hey rob listen to dino my old boss has on of those mechanics on wheels on standby he was awsome all around good guy. gave my boss all kinds of deals since we gave him so much business (boss wasn't big on maintenance and was hard on equipment) personal mechanics are awsome to have, they have Everything a big shop has except maybe a lift but they run on ur schedule or close to it, no big lines or waiting to be served, and sometimes they can find u the better deal on parts. And they dont only do work on motors our mechanic worked on everything from rebuilding hydro cylinders, rebuilding engines, to even rigging up strobe lights, and putting snow plows on. just my 2 cents

Rob-
I found this board as I was "kicking the tires" on obtaining a CDL. I was also interested in the O/O route eventually and ran across your thread and have now read it end to end in the last three days.
I admire your spirit and determination as well as your willingness to share your experiences with evenryone here. I was equally impressed with everyone else here who is so willing to help.
So anyhow...thanks for the entertainment and information. Also, another member of the board lives in Viera, FL as I do. If you slide down the east coast through Brevard county, here's another offer of dinner if you'd like. My wife makes the worlds best lasagna.
Keep the wheels rollin' man. Wish you all the best. The Challenger, ampm wayne and PharmPhail Thank this. -
Holy ####### cow 275 for a ####### wiper switch!
Might check fuse panel see if it blew a fuse. If its the motor it most likely did...Might try putting a new fuse in if its blown and try again. -
The Challenger Thanks this.

pharm, buy a multi-meter....they come with a book telling you how to use it
alot of shops have gone with the "you plug it in it's yours" mentality.....mainly due to people not knowing what they are doing and , well, frying the part
you might wanna try napa next time.....my local one can get almost anypart i want, if im willing to wait a day or twoPharmPhail Thanks this. -
Don't tell me that. When checking my truck AC wasn't working, was like 150 degrees inside so didn't check the heat. The temp knob doesn't switch to heat. Guess I'll be doing my least favorite thing, tearing the dash out. Hope it's just a funked up cable not the control switch.

Pharm, this may be easier said than done, but I'd find a different shop to take your truck to if Rush is going to be such pricks about returning a part. Like a couple of these other guys have said, a good mechanic with his own service truck or small shop would likely give you a lot better service than a big national chain. That's been my experience anyway. Our KW dealer is pretty good to get parts from, they deliver here at least twice a week, no extra charge, usually can return things with no problems. Service is a little more hit and miss, sometimes they do a great job, and some times it seems like they just slap the parts on to get it out the door, and don't even check things.
If nothing else, keep the new switch in a safe place for when the day comes that you need it.PharmPhail and The Challenger Thank this.
