1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Two or so months ago, while not paying attention, I ran a red light and got into an accident. My car was totaled but luckily no one was hurt. Prior to this accident I've been driving for 5 years and got a ticket here or there but there were no other major incidents. How likely is it to break it into the trucking industry with a driving record like this?

It won't be easy. Looks like you don't take driving a car very seriously. But, give it your best shot.:biggrin_25511:

While not paying attention? How can you be that inattentive?
Driving is serious business...If you can't pay attention, Don't drive!

Wow...5 whole years and just a few tickets??

Find something else to do! With that attitude there is no room for you in this industry!

Well, thanks for the answers, and thanks for being stereotypically rude. Blue collar is as blue collar does.

Yes, it was careless of me. But mistakes happen. You've never made a traffic violation? Ran a stop light? Switched lanes without turning on the signal? Failed to obey a high way sign? If you can answer "yes" to any of these then you are a horrible monster who should never be allowed to drive. You scum.

Driving 40 tons of tractor trailer is serious business. I know that you may feel picked on here. This is a forum made up of pros who take this seriously. Not paying attention can, will, and has gotten people killed.
I must say that the attitude that comes out in your posts dictates you seek another industry to work in. Now you can take offense to this, and other responses, or you can learn from them.

Imagine if you ran that redlight with a 40 ton vehicle. This is what inattention driving will do with a 40 ton vehicle>> Inattention led to Oklahoma wreck that killed 10, police say

This is not meant to insult you but to remind you of the repercussions of your actions when driving any vehicle on the road.

    I'm curious...

When you ran that redlight, what had your attention?
