Why did the motor die? I hope you did the 400k miles drop the sump and replace the o-ring on the oil pick up line for the oil pump! An $800 service at Freightliner...
Otherwise, 400k, save $800, 800k save $800 - if it makes it that far... above that catastrophic oil pressure failure and a grenaded engine. Mine had a rebuilt one. The boss saved $1600, it cost him $25k to rebuild it.....He’s on his sixth and counting!

Hello there, my engine broke down in the beginning of march and now i am looking into the same thing, to install a s60 instead. Not sure if it's worth it. What have you decided and how did it work for you?

Did you guys ever get this issue sorted out? I have a 2008 Cascadia that came with a factory 14L Series 60. It is a DDEC 6 motor. You can put in a 14L DDEC 6 motor but need the motor mounts and the wiring harness for a 2008 Cascadia. There are no factory 12.7 DDEC 6 Detroits but you can also install a DDEC 5 (either 12.7 or 14L) motor as long as you have a manual transmission. There is a wiring harness from Mawk Industries for a DDEC 5 to Cascadia that costs around $1,100 but the DDEC 6 Eaton computer won't work properly with the DDEC 5 computer if you're going to be keeping the ATM.

Why is it locked? As long as the block is good, it can be overhauled. Often a liner will drop, coolant gets in on top of piston , and if gets hydro locked. Still can be overhauled. May have a bent rod, to replace.Maybe not
