Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

I could make a killing if I lived in MI. It's one of the best produce hubs in the country.

Hello Rednek,
IMHO,
There are Companies that will train you, under contract. I advise you, to avoid that route.
Try a Google search of Community/Technical Colleges for your area.
Free Funding and Grants are available for individuals that want/need training to enter or re enter the workforce.
Please keep in mind that, CDL training is just ONE part of the training that is available to you.
The Truck Driver Training Programs available through these CColleges are Accredited Programs. They are well respected for the drivers that they produce.
When you graduate you have the ability to choose where to start your career.
I am NOT an advocate for working under just any contract, especially as a Newbie.
You will have to do some search and research, Homework.
Best of luck to you! -
Just off the top of my head ... National Carrier, Pride, Marten, USA Truck
-
Thats true, but it is a short season for produce here. Maybe a 3 month time frame.
-
Hah, I tried to work for them, had terrible luck. I went through all their training (I was an industrial mechanic before, so I already had been through all the OSHA stuff, but I re-took it anyway.) I waited for like 3 weeks and they didn't work any of us, then they wanted to give me no hours, oh well I didn't miss out I don't think.
-
Hmm, any recommendations on local companies for drivers who are experienced?
-
The jobs that I listed were for
Experienced drivers as well as recent graduates.
Try a Google search of trucking companies in North Carolina.
Best to you
