How do you ever get legal with that? We'd slide our 5th wheels back for a better ride, because no weight on the steer. I'd never go over a scale like that. I like the "low trailer" ramps, btw![]()
Lost control twice now, what happened?

The old Fifth wheel centered is just a recommendation now its not a requirement. There is too many different spec of trailers out there to be able to keep it like that. Txdot dont look at position anymore they just look at condition of the coupling. If you aren’t overloading the axles you are good.
You see a lot more fifth wheels installed new that can slide back further than center. -
I’m rarely over 70k, usually closer to 40k, and only slide forward if I need weight on my front end but I only have a 12k front axle and I carry almost 13k on the steers bobtail, full of fuel.201 Thanks this.

You may be able to do to that, but I certainly don’t like it for pulling pups with a twin screw. They get a lot more twitchy.SmallPackage Thanks this.

This old 1950 fruehauf/Carter 26 footer still pulls really good. Solid old heavy steel. It weighs 8100 Lbs. empty! also has a 31 inch pin setting so the fifth wheel is wayyyy back. Handles 7 round bales with ease. Lol.

Check tomorrow ? You should know that already.

Duals
And for anyone wondering, drive tread is like an inch. I didn't measure but they're blatantly no where near low.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this. -
I'm not a veteran or anything but I've driven for 2 years, I've dealt with horrible roads, plenty of them. The feeling of an actual loss of control compared to being pulled sideways or bumped around is very different.
