Hey Mike I'm in nc looking for a tanker company situation similar to yours now, can u give me some detail into what your doing,how profitable it i??s,etc..

both companies you mentioned have tracking. I know you meant well but it will be a cold day in hell when i give up anymore freedom than i have to.

What are the Tractor Requirements for Owner ops?

Today, I have to deadhead from here up to north of Portage, WI, load and head to Arizona. $5300 linehaul. Not too shabby.

The 9 and 11yr old have ceribl palsy. Spent a lot of money on treatment, therapy, surgeries, you get my point. Didn't have insurance for a few years wasn't helping either. So yah, $197K really goes fast. Not to mention the 3 older kids. And the granddaughter. Like I said earlier, my situation is different from most. Home schooling, special diet for them. Tell ya what. I wouldn't wish this on anybody and I wouldn't trade it for the world.

hey mike Miller transporters is decent 63%+100% fsc. they will equip your truck with their pump and air and in-transit heat. just when you leave they take it all back off. no forced dispatch. contract only requires you to pull 1 load a month. if you pull dedicated it pays 67% plus fuel. I have average 2.10 a mile all miles here for this year. I typically stay out 2-3 weeks by my choice. we are just now getting a terminal started out of Pittsburgh and we are slowly building a freight base. only downfall is we do run e-logs and quallcomms. I typically haul 2-3 loads a week and I typically run 21-2200 miles a week

I am leased to Miller now. I am not a Miller cheerleader. You can come over here and make good money, or you can come over here and just do ok. Last year I did $204,000. It came to $1.98 a mile on a cost of $1.23 operating cost, leaving $0.75 to the house. That was with a $2,040 a month tractor note. This is not an advertisement for Miller. But, $1.10 with fuel included.........you will have to tell that to someone who doesn't work over here. Even if you ran everything dedicated and had 50% deadhead you couldn't get that low. I guarantee you that Miller is not for everyone. I have plans on making a move out of here myself to US Bulk and go pull end dumps. But, I will tell the truth about Miller. The good, bad, and ugly. And those numbers are just not possible. I would have to see the accounting. I can think of nothing over here that is that bad and I run in and out of East Lansing all the time.

I know this is an old post, but I had to comment. Much respect for your hustle and positive attitude! Keep plugging away. I have 4 kids myself and I can relate with the pain, stress and struggle. Like you, I wouldnt trade it for the world. I'm 50 yo and transitioning from being a union ironworker to trucking. Tough row to hoe when you're used to making 6 figures with top notch health bennies. I hope you're still doing good. -John
