I only buy from sellers who are 99% or better in ratings. And even then in extremis. Most of the ebay stuff that I follow as part of my hobby is priced at retail or over with shipping. Simply not worth it. I have not sold anything for years but I hold a 100% rating across the board on several hundred transactions. So no real problems.

Amazon is the second source, with reluctance. I don't want to support such a outfit that is breaking and hurting their warehousing staff but in the end if they have the item needed then fine.

Ebay considers me a merchant and there is about 10,000 dollars per month in revenue I am capable of doing. But since certain changes in taxes etc I have not sold anything for years now. Ive been with them a very long time.

All in all Ive considered myself fortunate. There has been items bought that will be enjoyed and never made again anywhere so there is that.

The one thing I do do is bake in shipping costs for insurance. Particularly for high dollar items. So if it's lost in transit pay me. And buyer gets their money back. I keep the rest.

Newegg is my primary for computer parts. Depending on time of day monday morning before sunrise I can have the part flown to my door air from City of Industry next day. Avoid the ground shipping where it sits for days in a semi truck freezing or baking in the southwest.

Less than 3500 for a top tier tire? Where are you finding those?

I'm running double coins right now and am very happy with them. Remember not everyone runs down the interstate all day. I'm extremely pleased if I get 70,000 miles out of a tire. Lots of gravel, big power and constant stop and go

Whenever I shop on Amazon, I usually buy the product from the manufacturer or Amazon. This usually means I pay a few cents extra, but I’d rather not have to deal with the possibility of the product being an imitation. To this day, I haven’t bumped into fake products that I am aware of, or maybe imitators have gotten pretty good at it. Hahaha.

FFE gave us Yokos on steers and bridgestones first team year with brand new essentially virgin 2001 century. We put 210,000 on that tractor with one yoko replaced after on ice discovered factory failure in sidewall out of true and threw several alternators at it. Original brakes, clutch (Auto, rockwell), original everything else essentially. Turned it in to FFE in perfect condition inside and out when we left memphis for home. Could not be happier.

Had a solo tractor that was about 350K and less than nice. But tried to clean it up, love on it fix it and tend to it so it worked out but towards the time my wife got CDL to join me that old tractor was requiring shop time which interfered with making money those weeks. (Not just me but also company)

I agree. Its getting terrible with imitations.

We have not been burnt yet but we tried also to order direct. Essentially Amazon is just the shipper.

I just paid just over 400 for a 16 ply Bridgestone 284 steer tire. And that was mounted, balanced ,and out the door with 7% sales tax. Considering drives are cheaper than steers I think 3200 for 8 would be about right.

I watched the video, but what the YouTuber failed to show is who he bought the spark plugs from. This question really does matter when buying from Amazon as there will usually be a list of sellers to select from. At 00:45, he shows the product page, and there you can see 7 sellers for that product. This is why I mentioned in this thread that I buy the product from the manufacturer or Amazon (the company) whenever available. For all we know, the YouTuber bought the product from a seller with 5 reviews. See image below.

The YouTuber also didn’t provide a very convincing argument for the “counterfeit” spark plug as some commentators mentioned that products are produced in various plants worldwide. I doubt the spark plugs manufacturer in the US was knowledgeable enough to speak about the authenticity of products made from other official manufacturer(s) worldwide. If I were him, I would call the manufacturer(s) oversees to verify the spark plug and not the one in the US.

I have bought tires from World of tires, and Chicago Tire off Ebay. I have also bought tires from otrusa.com a couple of times. Never any problems so far. Simple tires charges so much for shipping I have been able to beat their prices elsewhere so no experience with them yet.

My biggest worry buying from eBay would be that you're getting blems or factory seconds with some kind of defect. If you see a price on eBay that's just too good to be true, it probably is.

Years ago (pre-eBay) I went to a Firestone dealer to buy 4 new off road tires for my Jeep. Seemed like a fair price and I bought them. Weeks later I was doing some work on the jeep and saw that the inside of the tires was marked "BLEM" and I paid full retail price for them. Went back to the dealer and told him I want a new set of non-blems or a refund. He basically told me to F/O. Called his district manager and had a new set of upgrades on the next day, and the manager who sold me the blems was fired. It's much easier to fix a problem at a retail outlet than through eBay.
