Op, you would have had a blast back in the day when they only required us to rest for 8 hours and on paper logs.
I still remember when it changed to 10 hours and I thinking what the hell am I going to do for 10 hours...
    I couldn't imagine being on E-logs..

Filling out paper logs and doing all that drawing and math is for the birds.

I hope u had ur elog unplugged during all this or u might awaken to a big surprise if it starts working again. That thing never stops tracking u unless u unhook it from the engine computer

I miss paper logs. AOBRD was a pain. ELD is worse. I am angry that we are mandated to use something for which the technology is not sufficiently developed. My ELD screws up all the time usually during the night when I am shut down and in the sleeper. So then it magically fixes itself but for 8 days leaves a big exclamation flag saying use paper logs. Arrrghgh. And yes, I do sometimes drive like a crazy person to get to a parking area that is 15 miles away and I only have 13 minutes left. $#!$@! That.

LOL. When my ELD went live on December 17th, I had a little orange dot that showed up on the screen at the bottom for 8 days. All because I drove 7 minutes past the 30 minute break requirement.

I was only 5 miles from my drop yard and only had 36 minutes left on the 14 hour clock when I said screw it and went 7 minutes over. Dropped my trailer and used PC to my home which is only 5 minutes from the drop yard.

This is the sort of stupidity these rules create.

The orange dot did disappear and I'm a clean man now :)

Yeah, I was envisioning what I would say to a LEO if I was inspected and he made a deal of it. I determined in my mind I would of said to him, "IMPEACH ME, PLEASE!"

During a level one inspection I have had to email LEO my last 8 log days right there on the spot.

You have always been required to carry eight days of logs. 8 days is the most you must present. Nothing stops them from looking further on a roadside.
