True.

 

I don’t own one nor have I played with one... but seems the RM Tablet is a full blown Android Tablet... meaning one can add Apps to it like any other “tablet”... whereas the RM740 is still running Android but the skin they place over it limits one to the includes apps ... so if you want a full tablet experience, you need to shell out more money for the “tablet”.

 

Phone or Tablet... they are all rectangular devices... running an Operating System... a computer in your hand... with features added, or open, to add more value.

The 740 is just a rectangular device running an operating system allowing computation ... with the exception that I am not allowed to download my own Apps... it’s a tablet.

 

Agreed... but the 740 was released after 2013... bought a 730 in 2015 so it has to be released after that... but even then the hardware specs were decided on running just a few apps... so hardware was going to be limited to the lowest (cheapest) requirements...

 

Would love to buy one but seems like they got everyone hyped up then “out of stock”. Come on Rand McNally

 

Still hoping they get around to updating my gps with current data... missing a new Interstate in Nevada and several newer truck stops...

Lifetime Map Updates... when???

 

As I recall it took a couple years after completion to get that last segment of 485 in Charlotte and the 841 toll segment in Louisville added to their map database, so... "Whenever We Get To It."
