Advice on parking and routing into NY/NJ with semi truck?

When will you be rolling in? Middle of the night, night before, that morning?

 

I’d park at the spinning wheel diner, US 22 in NJ. Google it. Big dirt lot to east if diner, then you can get right back on 22 east then make a left a couple miles up get back on 78, you will be about a hour from Newark, and it’s a safe. I’d roll from the diner about 5am, then park by the job site, I’d come up 21 to Clark street to Passaic street and then you’d be facing the job right across the street. To get to Brooklyn, In the middle of the morning I would just consider going up to GW, across the cross Bronx, down over the Whitestone bridge, to the van Wyck (678) to Atlantic Avenue, it would be the most direct route with traffic not as much as fighting thru the Lincoln tunnel going thru Manhattan, or going thru system island and Brooklyn. Few bucks more in tolls, it would be the easiest and most direct route. In my opinion. Hope this helps.

 

The two parking places I know are TA truck stop on 78 at PA/NJ state line. If you want parking their you better reserve one because that place is full by like 2pm. Everyone has the same idea.

Vince Lombardi service plaza is right on I95 it full up pretty fast also. I have not been their in probably 6 years. So not sure how the place is anymore. It was never anything great. A place to park had food and bathrooms.

 

That big of a tractor is going to give you fits getting to your Berriman pickup. The corners over there are tight and it's frequently wall to wall parked cars.

Edit: Also, Berriman is a one-way headed up to Atlantic Ave. May have to pass Berriman, right on Montauk, right on Liberty, and right again on Berriman.

it will be tough, I did it a lot down there with a 275” wb 379 and a 50’ spread axle flatbed. Used to go down that way with my Marmon also. Just take your time and take the real Estate you need to make the turns.
