I have found most gremlins are due to a dirty/corroded ground some where. Start with the batteries and clean them all. I recently had an issue in heavy rain. I have an 06. 14L

question. how old are the batteries

This looks to be a j1939 data link issue. The temperature change aspect is a bit confusing. I have seen that instead of temperature being the issue, it's actually the time that truck is building air (0-125 psi). When the air bags inflate and raise the frame (wire harnesses all zip tied in frame rail) cause the issues. You are going to have to have someone who is versed in data link troubleshooting look at this truck. Also, make sure that if you have an old disconnected qualcomm cable hanging on the back of the cab, the pins are not green and corroded.

good call grasshopper. i have had that same issue with the old quallllcommin wires at the top of the sleeper. wire end was bad causing it to ground it self out. i cut it off. wrapped each wire then wrapped the whole thing. bam no more problems.QUALITYTRUCK Thanks this.

If it is a J1939 issue, can’t rule out the ECM too. Maybe you can find literature on troubleshooting the ECM for an internal short?
Because when abs and weird engine codes happen at the same time, the ECM could be involved. Be it, power going in, ground, internal short etc. the temperature part is a bit odd.
Also, you may have a starter relay on your firewall that might be acting up in the cold? Or even the starter solenoid on the the starter getting stuck in the cold -
it could be bad terminating resistor on j1939. its hard to say what is causing this issue. DL must be connected to see inactive faults.

Did you find the problem? Mine does the same thing, but also does it while driving. It way worse in cold temperatures.
