I had a dry van backhaul out of S Tx recently that the broker required Macropoint to be dl"ed. The VP called me and asked me to DL it. I wanted to tell him that I charged $50/hr to be tracked via macrocrap on MY tablet, but since Im a co driver I decided against it. Then when I forgot to do it, the broker called him back and said I was refusing to use it, yet I never talked to him the mf'er.
Let them track your truck?

What annoys me is they want you to use the app to track you, yet still blow up your phone for updates.
bryan21384 and 6wheeler Thank this. -

To be clear, I'm asking about providing a 3rd party unlimited access to the truck/load location at any point during the trip, not status updates or check calls. Two different things.
If indeed these aggressive tracking requirements are becoming the norm, what has changed to justify it? -

Even if the broker doesn't charge more, all other things being equal they will get more business just for the added feature.Midwest Trucker and brianv31 Thank this. -
My best paying loads require me to be tracked . This has actually made detention easier as well as getting paid quickly with no % taken off the top for early pay . I would rather be tracked electronically than have a broker call me 2x a day , they like to call early not realizing I'm in a different time zone still sleeping. I see no problem

I have never been tracked except for an Exxon load out of Anchorage that went out on the ice the other side pf Prudhoe.
Exxon insisted of putting a tracking device in my truck that had to be plugged in to the cigarette lighter.
I had been gone in Anchorage rush hour traffic when they called me the first time, wanting to know why I had noiot moved yet, and they had the nerve to ask if I was sure I was not still there. It was only about 20 minutes later they called and asked the same thing, about an hour in and the same phone conversation, except for this time I told them, that it was illegal for me to be talking on the phone, so this was the last time I will answer it, besides that I just unplugged your device. lol
