Advice on parking and routing into NY/NJ with semi truck?

The service plaza is closed but the parking lot is open. I think they have ports johns....

 

We have two storms of winter I remember well. (Three actually but Anges is something of a another problem in her time) one was about Jan of 1977 where I was, it was my first two foot snowfall at school. No classes that week but we were a dormitory situation for about 450 total and a ride out staff with stocks of food and fluids and housekeeping for all of us so we wanted for nothing other than too much snow time that week.

The other storm I remember well is about the winter of 93' we had a noreaster show up combine with a winter storm front and then sit over us for 4 days. We got 39 inches in 24 hours exactly on our back porch and by day 4 our home was completely covered in 60+ feet drifts with exception of our wood fireplace and chimney. By day 6 I drive my car down to I-70 Mt Airy and found three feet of slush on top of pavement. I had very good tires and managed to get around on it ok. Some did not. But to get there I had to pass between 40 to 60+ foot walls of snow notched out by front end loader 10 miles at a time. That took about half a day. Remember Maryland had a snow fighting army in those days and even today. So it was possible to get around.

 

Anytime I went to Jersey I usually stayed ok the turnpike, more parking and better amenities. But a lot of interesting folk are about after the sun goes down.
