Will industry shortage make automation come sooner

This is the logic of the inexperienced,"this thing I'm really in love with will be perfect. THAT thing you're using, that only has 1 job isn't perfect so it doesn't count.' If the talent working on a simple problem cannot get that right every single time you would be foolish or dead to assume they will get a problem 1,000,000 more complicated right every single time.

I do know I haven't had a crash or ticket in 3 million miles and a few dozen times in the last almost 3 years my truck's "safety system" has tried very hard to cause a wreck. Every driver with this system can say something similar about their system. Once you get out in the real world the difference between theory and comic books is really quite impressive. Some might say important, even.

 

That's why I report these incidences to our company safety hotline. I'm generating a "paper trail'. I've also documented these events so if the worst ever happens my heirs will be able to speak for me.

 

I'm already learning to speak in binary code so that way I can communicate with my robot overlord. Or, will we just need to hook up a wire to our brains that will allow us to mind meld with the robot, instead?

The only robot speak I know sounds a lot like a shotgun blast.

 

Smart move. Had a friend that’s been at a company since 03, perfect record, had a huge black plastic bag fly across the road in front of him, truck jammed the brakes and he lost control and rolled the truck.

Of course, the company tried to throw their driver under the bus. But while they were reviewing his case, it happened to another long time driver. Then the trucking company had all the new trucks routed back in for a supposed computer glitch. The parameters were set “too sensitive.”

The problem is, that truck roll is still on the driver’s record.

 

I wonder if a driver could sue for defamation n an instance like that? At that point, a company is harming your reputation and taking money out of your pocket by attributing an accident to you that wasnt your fault.

In my line of work, we are starting to see more and more self steering trailers. When they work, they work well. When they malfunction...

...sudden death.

 

Holy hell. Shoulda put another chain on her! Lol. I can only imagine what that trucker had going through his mind right when that beam was about to flip the tractor on its side. ####, those chains snapped like they were string. I wonder what the working load on em was? A beam like that has gotta weigh 150k?
