LOL. 10 more years and 2 days out is too much to handle.

I'm picking up a reefer Tuesday or Wednesday and I'm coming after your freight. Lol. Just kidding. I am getting a reefer but I'm not coming for your freight though.

If you can handle a lot of the BS that comes with reefer, there’s good money in it. It’s not too bad though.

Pulled one for 8 years when I first started trucking. We've got some guys that are turning in good numbers so I might as well play also.

I think leasing on with a small/midsize reefer company who will give you at least 75% and preferably 80-85% with dedicated weekly runs is more profitable than running to the next thing you can find. In 2019 I earned $2.02/mile gross rev, $1.27/mile after real costs ($1.03/mile after depreciation) on 127,000 miles. Not as good as 2018 was but I was also only on the road for 44 weeks.

A lot of it is just the little stuff, they have so much more leverage to get stuff done right, or collect money. I had over $10,000 in layover and detention in 2019, really helps boost the per mile numbers when you are actually getting paid for delays.

When I was in town last, the guy at Carrier put some new software in my reefer. It’s been throwing a lot of codes and shutting itself down for no reason. One time, it shut down and locked up everything, I had to pull out the main power fuse to shut it down and turn it back on. I wouldn’t say it was doing it a lot, but often enough that it was on my nerves. I kept complaining about and Im guessing I wasn’t the only one, since they released a lengthy patch for it.
In addition to no codes lately, it’s using less fuel too. I filled it in Effingham, IL Saturday morning just after midnight and filled with 20 gallons Thursday night around 2200. That’s about 4 gallons per day, frozen load, the last 1.5 days were a continuous 36 degree load. It also sounds different when it starts up, engages the compressor. They changed a bunch of stuff and I’m very happy with it.

This month numbers, 10878 total miles, 26,340 revenue, 13.5% DH, 2.42 all miles. I just booked the final load for the month today. I also got my IFTA report back. They once again misclassified reefer fuel and I had to have them fix it. November was a bad month for fuel mileage and dropped my total number down to 8.65 for the quarter.

Not bad times for you at all. Perhaps, the best there ever was for you . Even considering all the time since you started. You're getting good at it.
