I like the Chevy!
What does he have built in the corner of his shop? Looks like an office? That is kinda neat.

Cause was the trailer getting shoe only brake jobs over the years when it needed drums too. Im just a hired hand and i wasnt aware this could happen until now or id have been on it. I believe the S cam was pushing out so far to reach the drum that it "cammed over" and bound in the braking position so that one corner dragged brake until it was glowing red.
The big spring stretched like a phone cord, oil seal and abs melted, air lines to levelling valve melted but bag lived, Thank the Lord. All my bags were aired out and frame parked ontop the tires so i couldnt move even if i caged the cans. I had no choice but to fix it right there.
I cut back the air lines to the levelling valve, unmounted the valve from the trailer so it could reach the hose stubs. Then i had to reuse the crushed brass ferrulles by trimming off the plastic hose and melting the scraps out of the ferrule. I slid each ferrule up onto a pair of needle nose pliers like a mandrel and worked them forever to enlarge them to slide over fresh hose again. Took about 20 minutes to resize but it worked. Relocated the valve and was able to air up the bags manually.
Then i pulled the slack adjuster off and used a hunk of copper wire to tie up the bottom shoe but it kept falling down and just resting in the drum. Didnt cause any trouble but there was a lot of checking and scale dodging for the 250 miles home. Be real easy for the ride height valve to max out the bags or rest the deck ontop the rubber. Very hard to gauge ride height from the seat. The fix took me 3 hours of squirming under in the rain but it felt like a week. getting home was half a day but i made it.
I have to deliver the tanks monday before we can jack the trailer up but im gonna see to it new everything goes on there. I saved bossman a fortune so he can afford my parts. -
