i worked at celadon on 2 seperate occassions. the first from 6/04 to3/06 then i had to come off the road due to family problems.i took a year off (drove local delivery ). went back to celadon 4/07 and drove for them until i was fired for " excessive idleing " 1/09. was 100% on time pick-up and delivery. NEVER LATE. was left sitting days at a time in temps ranging from 40 to -15. had to run truck to stay warm was told not to run truck. I dont know about the rest of you but I'm not freezing my butt off for nobody. I'm currently getting unemployment, but want to get back on the road. however it seems that just when I think I'm going to get a job, they talk to celadon and thats the end of that. yet they wont tell me why theychanged their mind about hireing me. this has happened with several companys. I have over a million miles without an accident and because of celadon I cant get work.
Watch your back...at Celadon

I worked for them part of the summer in 07( needed money for repairs) The only problems I had with them was a lack of communication between departments, and they had this girl in the shop who issued out trucks that was about as rude and beligerent as you could get, I told her what she could do with herself, her supervisor left me a message to call him, figured I was going to get canned but he actually apologized to me, but they kept me busy(if I stayed out of Laredo) and I actually didn't mind being a company driver for them to much, but then again I did know that I was only going to be there for a few months, I really liked the free clinic they had in Indy. I just had a physical done no problems, they redid me and found I had high blood pressure, next time I was home, got another blood pressure check done and sure enough I did

I feel your pain. Next time you put in an app, be up front with the company that Celadon may do this and explain the situation. It may help. Best of luck!

I'd be a little curious about what Celadon is saying about you.... legally when a prospective employer calls for a refference, the only thing your previous employer can legally tell them is wether or not they would hire you back or not. That's it.
There's prolly not a whole lot you can do about this, but I'd still find out what's going on and possibly contact an attorney on the matter. -
Ya, I would let people know up front about your situation. Then when it happens they can be much more understanding. I am sure they are saying lies to make you look bad or something.

I was gonna go work for this company, thank god i didnt
Beechvtail Thanks this. -
I worked for Celadon back on 2003 and the only problem I had was the continual changing of fleet managers. Seemed like a different personality every day of the week. As far as what a former employer can say, when you fill out the app. for a new company, you also sign a release. This allows the former employer to say ANYTHING that pertains to your employment. You have no recourse because you signed that release. Read the fine print at the bottom of every app. According to FMCSR, there is information that a prospective employer has to get and in order to do that, you have to agree to release certain information. I am sorry this happened to you. I hope you have good luck in landing another job soon.

A friend and I had worked for a company hauling fuel. (1984) I was fired a couple of months before he and the other 2 drivers quit on the same day.
He was at Builder's Transport 5 hours from home taking his DOT test. He heard them talking to Aviation Fuels. The HR guy said "stop what you are doing." They told me you had used the company credit card to buy gas for your car.
This was total BS as the cards said "Diesel Only" on them. He sent them a "Lawyer's Letterhead." In effect telling them to knock off the BS or he would advise his client of further action he could take.
He was not reconsidered by Builder's Transport but was able to get another job with no hassles.
It cost him $125 for the letter. -
celadon did me the same way but with me they put a accident that never happen an yes 2 days ago i seen my dac an it was on there and my friend who is a STATE POLICE ran the information and seen it never happen an sent me to a LAWYER. AND THEY DID THIS BECAUSE I QUIT ON THEM because i wasn't making no money an yes they made it hard 4 me to get a job(so they think) but i got the proof in blk & white. So u can leave me a message an i'll show u what to do an also get your DAC RECORD to start your fight with them trust me u can WIN if u try cuz ain't no one too big to fight an my lawyer is a money hungry very smart lady who knows how to win
beside most women know how to get that MONEY an if u r in TEXAS find the lawyer who sued them last year for 1.5 million if your case is good he'll take it 4 free an make celadon pay
