    So?

Who would trade money for essentially worthless pieces of paper? The only reason stock is traded for real money is because it is artificially pumped by a whole industry of stock brokers.

Why would you trade real money for a stock (like Werners) that pays profit dividends of 1%???

(and no that is not a typo, they pay out 1% of company profits to the stockholders, haha, so long suckers!!! They're taking your money and the profits and putting them into real assets not paper stock certificates, hell, they don't even strain themselves printing stock certificates anymore.)

You have no idea the stress that I go through everyday. To say that you as a truck driver has more stress is just a plain stupid statement to make. NOTE: I never said that I have more stress. But you don't know me or have any idea of what I do for a living. Your comment (I think it was you) about a 1.5% raise being the min. is also a load of crap. Employers are under no obligation to give anybody a raise or cost of living increase.
So to summarize what I have been saying.......was this right? No. Was this different that any other employer in any other industry? No

They're only looking at the cost per mile right now. I can't wait til they lose hundreds of thousands on noobs smashing their equipment, causing liability issues, not showing up ontime, and other noob hassles. They keep forgetting that "experience pays", both ways.

The sad thing is that I can remember some of the legends about C.L. Werner when he ran his company. Experienced company drivers who did their jobs were treated really well under him, but I guess it truly sucked to be office staff, especially driver managers during his reign. My understanding is that he was truly brutal when his DMs pissed of the drivers.

To tmlonghorn, that was me. I don't know what it's like in your state, but PA does insist, but not require, cost of living raises. Most employers use the cost of living raises as a basis of raises earned and given.

The company hubby drives for may not be the best. As with any other company there is good AND bad.
However, even THEY won't give an experienced, valued employee a hunk of junk such as that!
Some of the trucks here may be a little older, (none older than 2000), but are in MUCH better condition than that POS Werner put Highlander in!

While I'll agree with tmlonghorns that it's gotten bad everywhere, I'd have to say that a driver that has been with Werner for that length of time, with the miles he's driven, and the safety record he has: He should have gotten a new truck before the arriving newbies, and if not a new truck then at least one in decent condition! God bless to steel for sharing this story and good luck to highlander and every other driver trying to stick it out driving OTR!

    Steele Thanks this.

had the same thing happen to me with CRST...right down to the jake brakes. However, the problem was a minor electrical problem, and pumping the clutch and flipping the engine brake switch repeatedly would make the jakes work. went from a 2009 freightliner to a 2006, as soon as i saw the truck number i was PISSED. half of the interior was missing, outside of the truck was a lot worse than highlanders...

This is what kills me. At first, your comments were that a cost of living increase was REQUIRED in your state. When challanged now it is INSISTED, but not required. Truth be told, in your state and every other state, as long as they pay the minimum wage that is REQUIRED, they can do whatever they want. Hell if they wanted to they could take 20% of your pay....oh wiat... my employer already did that and then some.
Which again leads me back to my point. I see post after post here of people complaining about how bad the company they work for is and how the poor truck drivers gets shafted. Guys, and gals, this is happening everywhere and I could argue that the trucking industry has been one of the bright spots in this industry. It sucks everywhere, every industry, right now.
I see people complain about all of the new truckers that are taking the jobs for less pay than the experienced ones. What about the seasoned trucker who just took a new construction job away from the seasoned construction worker?
Always two sides to every story as well. In this case their may be three sides as we heard from Steele who was writing for Highlander. They both think that Highlnader is a great employee but perhaps Werner does not feel that way and that is why he got the truck he got.
His driving record may be clean but he did have an accident in which a driver was killed. His fault or not it does not matter. Don't believe me......read hundreds of posts from others who have been screwed when they have an accident and the safety guy tells them that ALL accidents are avoidable. I am not saying this is right but I am saying that this apears to be industry standard.

Correct, and I was wrong. My apologies. I still feel that the trucking industry has been screwed over harded, and for longer, than other industries.
