First it is illegal to have brake lamps activated by anything other then brake selinod switch(a.k.a. brake pedal) I got into a fight with kenworth over it , even after showing legislation that clearly states it. I even talked to corporate office as dealership states it came from factory like that so it's legal. HOGWASH!!!!
It is a murder waiting to happen, if your jaking down a long hill and someone comes up behind after you already started down the hill and you have to do emergency stop they have no way of knowing your actually using brakes and can easily hit you and sue YOU for not having properly working stop lamps and then you have to sue manufacturer.
The story I am told is It is done because to many people hit trucks in city's that Jake and slow down fast so they hit them not knowing they are slowing down. Even though that argument is hog wash also as most city's it is illegal to use Jake's in city limits . -
Do you have a reference for that regulation?

I know, just looking for backup. I wonder what he thinks of self braking trucks and cars. They must all be illegal, too.
