I drove OTR for most of my career. I will not post what my 2012 income was. I did not work most of December of that year, AND I worked for a starter company. My average weekly income hovered between $600 and $800 a week. You can think what you want. The real fact is there is money to be made OTR. Yes I know there is also a lot of hurry up and wait. I still made good money and if I had wanted to run harder I could have made more. One more point, I did not train. If I had trained I could have averaged $250 or more a week. Please don't make general comments like this. If you don't want to do OTR good for you.
edited to add further: I also was the first driver in a lot of the trucks I drove. My tractor was never dirty and I changed out my mattress about every 6 to 8 months. I sanitized all my contact surfaces at least once a month while waiting to be loaded. one more point. Where is the adventure of running the same streets all day every day? Let's drop this crap!
I have to do OTR starting out?

For the single person I would think OTR would be the more profitable way to go. As you don't have to keep paying for a place to reside. So other than the occasional hotel and your OTR living costs. You can bank everything away for later. No Rent/Mortage/Electric....etc. Heck I might even give up my SUV when I start and just Ubber every where on the local scene.
