getting back on the road...dumb logbook question!

You only have to cover the previous 7 days. You can put them all on 1 page, as long as they are consecutive days, and all off duty.

 

If you have an accident you can be sure that the lawyers will,............I would just log it as it actually happened,....And chances are you'll have a reset in before you head out driving again,...

 

sorry to sound stupid but you have to log non driving jobs??? Im home weekend and have a 2nd job so I "should" be logging those?

 

That would be "on duty not driving",............

 

That would prolly get into a grey area wouldnt it. If he logged in on duty not driving then he would not have any days off. If he logged it off duty and some reason they looked into it he could get in trouble also. If he needs the reset and he logged his other job that would srew up his primary job. I would ask someone at your company what they suggest.

 

I checked on this and technically its on duty not driving. Whatever happened to being able to work yourself to death..... or at least until your able to pay your bills

 

Technically, you are required to have in your posetion, the previous 8 days logs. Even a non driving job: Use an example of a driver manager who works in the office during the week, then takes a trip on the weekend...the Mon-Fri DM hours need to be logged "on duty not driving" (line 4) then off duty the hours not at his desk. On Saturday when he starts driving, the Mon-Fri are shown on each log by date so his accumulated hours don't exceed the 11-14-70 rule for the previous 7 days total.

To answer your question, make a log for each of the previous 8 days to cover your legal responsibility in case the "negative" issue comes up. If you have a 34 hour restart at the end of the non-driving job, going into your driving, just make note of the restart as line 1 "off duty, so your beginning HOS available hours show 70....always remember CYA to keep yourself out of trouble.

 

Do you mean that if I work at Denny's, or in my yard, I should log my hours as "on duty, not driving"?
