Yep, picking up preloaded trailer in Moreno Valley, CA going to Norfolk, NE for live unload 1600 Monday. I will also have to squeeze in a reset, so I definitely won't make that. They didn't see my hours when they sent me the load, but when i told them I couldn't make it they said it's not on me and they have nobody else for this load so I figured I'll take it.
And dang, I thought you started in Fremont that morning. I started in York.

Dropped my honey in Fond du Lac. But not without a fight. I always lock my trailer up. It was zero when I left Gary at 4am and minus 13 when I arrived. The lock was frozen and broke the key off in it. Ran down the street to Loves and got some wd40 and got it open with my spare key. Ran down to Jefferson WI and picked up pet food which I dropped at our Joliet IL drop yard, grabbed an empty and went around the corner to Thorntons and parked for the night. Onto Middlebury IN to pickup a load going to Mt Airy NC for Monday then bounce to Reidville for a Wed drop in KC. Exhale!
Vic Firth and runningman0661 Thank this. -
A little tip regarding the lock, I carry de-icer for just that reason. I’ve broken a key off in my lock before also. Looks like your going to have another good week.

@runningman0661 when you say you put away 30% for taxes, is that 30% of your gross or after expenses?
-
It would be 30% of what your settlement check is every week because what your settlement amount is is essentially your pre-taxed money
-
And that is 30% of the settlement before the fuel is deducted from your settlement? I assume so, but I just want to clarify. That's a lot of money to tax when half of it isn't even going in your pocket... Wouldn't you get a huge tax refund after you deduct all your expenses when you file your taxes?
-
That’s 30% of what the carrier pays you basically when you get your weekly settlement you deduct 30% out of that to put into savings for taxes....runningman0661 Thanks this.

30% after expenses or what hits my bank. Last year I put away 25% for my quarterly taxes, and still had to pay about $5K at the end of the year, so this year I gave myself a little breathing room.mushroom1464, Cobrawastaken, JohnBoy and 1 other person Thank this.
