I don't think the little green book allows that to be used inside the truck, but I'm not certain.
What wattage of a microwave should I use in a truck?

Right now I’m in a UltraLoft 579. Before this I was in a single bunk mid roof 579. No issues with either. I slide the strap off if I’m gonna really be working the oven like when I broil a steak just as a preventative measure but it never got the headliner hot I’m my old truck or the shelf that’s about two inches above it now.Roberts450 Thanks this. -
I’ve been warming food in a microwave oven since about 1980, no health issues that I am aware of yet. That’s 40 years.
I had a little 600 watt microwave that I paid $30 for, it rode with me in the truck for ten years and @ 1.1 million miles. I now have a larger inverter, and a 900 watt microwave, and like it much better.
I know guys that use an electric skillet in the truck, and it works well. With any electrical appliance, look on the back of the box, or the bottom of the appliance and see what the max draw in watts is, if your inverter exceeds that, you’re good to go.
I don’t get all that carried away with cooking in the truck. My wife and /or I grill up burgers, chicken, pork chops, sometimes steak, and freeze it in a zippy bag. I bring along as much as will fit in the little freezer in my trucks fridge. (KW T680, standard fridge). I bring along fresh veggies, canned veggies, canned soups, pre-boiled eggs, sometimes a carton of egg beaters, other left overs from home. Obviously I eat the stuff that spoils the fastest first. I have a 5 cup Mr Coffee coffee pot that will fill my 24oz non spill mug perfectly, much cheaper than @$2 a cup every morning, even with buying water at $1 a gallon. It’s still cheaper if I run out of water and buy water at truck stop price. I like my own coffee better anyway. If I end up parked at a shipper/receiver, I still have my coffee.
You don’t have to eat the salt laden truck stop fast expensive food. Once in awhile if I know a truck stop has a good sit down honest to goodness cafe, I will go in to eat for a change of pace and to get out of the truck for awhile. Usually about once a week listening to the nonsense spewed from the drivers sitting in the drivers only area is plenty for me.PE_T and Cabinover101 Thank this.
