Microsoft has always done this, and every new release is 'the most meaningful ever' to paraphrase their press releases. As new hardware becomes available,
they make use of it's capabilities and the spiral continues, BTW, Vista won't be available to the consumer market til next year, the release was to business
users only. I am not the only one willing to wait for it, LOL, I think Linux is looking better all the time:blah5:.

This is one of the reason I want out of IT. How can you become an expert in anything when the environment changes so often. I guess there are some people able and willing to relearn everything, I'm getting tired of keeping up.

What I've noticed though, a lot of companies aren't to quick to go right in to the next and greatest thing, I still program for companies that use VB 6.0 apps, on WIN2000 machines.

supposedly it is being released now for enterprise use. not supposed to start getting into our hands until january sometime.
bloatware or not, lets bring it on. has directx10
whole new generation of videocards. our dx9 stuff will become obselet so hold of on getting that sweet new lappy until there is hardware supposrting dx10 if you like games.
btw, i heard the new desktop will run a new dx9 version, so most comps will be ok for that, but for games you will want the latest stuff

Itll take time for them to fully utilize dx10 in games. Most people will likely never get off with the cool eye candy of the new OS. As Kc said, bloatware. It unlocks using 8 gigs of ram, but what isnt said is youll need to run 2 gigs of ram to make it run as good as XP does on 1gig. Ill just buy up a couple more XP licenses and hold on to them for future systems. Once all the driver and compatibility nightmares are sorted out, bout 2008 or so, then Ill use the upgrade coupons!
