Make sure that she doesn’t expect you to quit OTR after you get married. Unless you plan to do that.

I’m lucky, I got into a regional dedicated gig, I’m home every weekend. I think we’d be talking divorce by now if I hadn’t, and frankly, that’s still a possibility.

Look for a woman while you're on the road; preferably one on each coast.

You're in a truck driving forum asking for this advice...

    Stay single, you're not ready

I'm 40 now I couldn't imagine trying to maintain a marriage and raise kids at 27 while otr . There isn't alot of positives about this industry, it will suck you dry and kick you to the curb . Find a local driving job and stay near home , if you aren't in a city with a lot of trucking jobs get to one asap if this is what you want to do . Marriage or not most States Common Law is the same as marriage. Goodluck

Really simple. The question you ask says it all.
Your not ready, or you would not be thinking about this subject.

Now do right by this woman.
Tell her the truth, your just not ready for this.
Let her decide what she wants for herself.

It’s just how it read to me, whether he’s married or not, it’s ,Ike he in a committed relationship and became a truck driver, but now thinking of bailing, if he’s not married? I’d strongly suggest he doesn’t!

and by going bike riding, buying muscle cars and everything else, life passes him by. maybe he'll get someone pregnant, maybe not, maybe he will have a kid or 2, maybe not. (by staying single)

but after all those toys, and maybe no kids, no wife, no grandkids, he has only immaterial things to show his time on this earth, rather than a family.

to me (and maybe a few others here) sure the toys are nice, but when you're sick in the hospital or had surgery and at home needing care, that fancy bike or muscle car cannot feed you, clean you or talk to you.

you will die a lonely old person, and of all the cancers that eat you alive and is painful, or the alzhiemers, that eats away your brain, and of all the other ways to die,

dying alone...........that's the worst way to die.

Why is she not working? Let your head guide you, not your heart.
