Wouldnt be surprised if that still goes on. Its always the little guys getting inspected while mega carriers roll on thru the scale missing half the hood and trailer doors held on with baling wire.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who sees the precarious situation we are in. This country is getting safer and more prosperous. The energy sector, the farming industry, and the trucking industry makes it all work for everyone else. Yet these 3 industries seem to never grow or become more prosperous in step with the rest of the country.
Unlike farming where there is only so much land and when one farm goes under another one absorbs it and gets larger. They work tirelessly to develop more yield per acre because that is their only way to increase revenue. The price of the commodities rarely fluctuate over the long term. In trucking, when one mega carrier goes under, 10 more carriers grow to absorb the business. The freight is always there, but the price fluctuates based on driver availability. In the last year I hear how freight prices are down. Most of the old timers say the hay day was 20+ years ago.
I just think we need better (or any) representation than we currently have. I would like to see us prosper in the booming economy while we are the ones doing a lot of the heavy lifting to begin with. Our businesses should be a direct reflection of the growth and success of America.

Yep. Instead of fighting entrenched interests and trying to motivate a fractured driver population; you'd do a lot more good advocating basic financial literacy.

That way, you might develop a constituency that could afford to contribute to a union, which is what you're proposing.

Say you succeed and become Jimmy Hoffa 2.0. You just killed the O/O culture.

    Best post on this forum.

We don’t need anyone to speak for us if we just use our own voices. Everything @Ridgeline said is spot on.
