Pretty much the same. Just a 177287 with a few upgrades for better flow.
-
Has anyone ever tried the 80mm BW S430sx?
-
Sure have. Its basically just a more robust s400. Bigger shaft and bearings . I think they came out with the s430x for the class 8 truck market. Not really any more performance as your 177287 .
-
That’s the turbo that I’m about set on trying out. So would you recommend a 78mm or 80mm and would you rather have a 1.32, 1.45, or 1.58 A/R exhaust housing?
-
So why is the price so much higher for the s430sx vs the 177287 or the 171702?
Anyone else have any opinions or things turbos they've tried. I'm up for getting a super core, housings, or whatever. Thanks again for all the replies! -
The price is higher because the s430 is newer more robust design. The compressor wheel is also a forged milled wheel over the cast units in the older design. The profiles on the wheel is also a better more efficient design. Your paying for more research and development.
The 171702 is basically a Borg box replacement for many different applications. Been around a long time.Ruthless and spsauerland Thank this. -
I told you earlier in my original post what I'd recommend. 78mm s430sx with the 1.45 housing. Worked great on my 14L and I dynoed 650 rwhp with that turbo. Never got hot.
But I'm sure someone else will come along with a different opinion
Ruthless, steve092 and spsauerland Thank this. -
You did and I think that's what I'm leaning to now after studying and reading more into it. Will it still pull decent with the high flow manifold and what I have right now till I get a tune? It's got to be like 550/1850 to the wheels, because it's alot stronger than a stock 14L.
So would you do the 78mm S430sx or 78mm S410sx? Pretty much the same from what I read. It's the same as you stated before with the 430 being the newer 410 version, right? -
This is what I'd recommend. But a 1.45 housing with it. Shop around. It will work fine stock also. Your jake will not be as effective as stock thou.Chaney7c Thanks this.
