    Practice Practice Practice

When going forward you turn the steering wheel in the direction of the turn, the way you want to go.

When backing it's the reverse, turn your steering wheel the opposite direction you want the trailer to go.

Can't help w the baking part

I suspect that the OP is weak at visualization. I can related because I am one of the purported 1% of the population who cannot form mental images.

I realized that I could not learn backing in the same way that most of the other students could. Fortunately, I wanted to get my CDL so badly that I gave it my full energy and focus and persevered.

I still struggle in many backing scenarios. But I've put that trailer where it had to be every time without hitting anything. You can do it, but you are going to have to figure it out yourself. I found watching YouTube videos helpful. People telling me stuff is basically worthless to me. It's like being an idiot in that respect. Well, lots of idiots make it in the world so why not me?

One thing I learned when towing my boat. When backing put your hand on the bottom of the steering wheel. Then when you turn the wheel it will be the direction the trailer will move. Meaning if your hand on the bottom goes right, the trailer will go right. if your hand goes left, the trailer goes left. Just be sure to put it on top when going forward. So treat top of steering wheel as fwd and bottom as reverse.

The best advice I ever got about backing is: steer the trailer with the bottom of the steering wheel, not the top.

Disregard if it was already said, I didn't read all the posts.

Lol. I see you posted that right above my post. Ha!

I'm lazy today. Doing a reset, 3 thousand miles from home. Makes me want to just pig out on chocolate and Mtn Dew.

There's an incredible amount of really good advice available here, if you're good at wading. ;)
